Our daughter immediately loved her, but at first Mac wasn't so sure about her. She hadn't had much contact with people and most likely never a child - who knew she would be the best furry friend my kids could ever have. The Dude, ever so lovingly calls her, his "Macky" - he has a dog crush on her and she with him. The Dude is truly a huge fan of all the blonde ladies in his life. They love to hear her rescue story and how she was once afraid of everything - her trials and tribulations have inspired my children to be future pet rescuers. My daughter, now whenever we talk about any rescue pet she asks "What's his/her story?" I love their love for animals.

Furry best friend?
When Blondie was almost 2 years old, she marched right up to Santa and requested a "Yellow Yab" for Christmas. Santa thought on this a while and realized a "Yellow Yab" puppy with little people around didn't sound like the most fun idea. About a month after Christmas we found our perfect match through the DFW Lab Rescue. I began a few months previous to this, volunteering with them, doing home visits and other jobs. I heard the story about 50 labs who had been living in cages without roofs, very little food and a cesspool for drinking water. The lab rescue was called in to rescue them. Our McLaren "Mac" was one of those "Hard Knox Labs" from Knox City.
